This is a reminder for our upcoming elections for our three leadership positions. All are vacant with no incumbents to run against so far (this may change for want of interest). Please note the bolded dates. Positions are available for President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer. If you would like to run for office, please send me an email by 11:59, p.m., April 6, 2007, indicating what position you would like, why, what ideas you have for the future, and why you should be elected. Sell yourself in the form of a brief campaign statement. I have not yet received any statements for any position. I will take these campaign statements as written by interested candidates, compile them according to desired office, and then send them to the members of the society via email on April 7, 2007, so that members can make informed decisions about the candidates they wish to elect. Results of the elections will be given on April 10 during the lunch hour at 12:00 p.m. and via internet.
We are mindful that some will be unable to be present at the upcoming meetings (night students particularly come to mind), so we would like to make the campaigning and elections electronic so that everyone has the same access and opportunity. Therefore, we have set up site for the J. Reuben Clark Law Society on TWEN. Please add this to your TWEN account by selecting the “Drop/Add a Course” link on the left hand column of the TWEN page. Then simply add it to your courses. Instructions for voting will follow along with the candidates’ campaign statements and the polls will be open from the release of that email until the meeting on April 10.
Lowell Dinius of the Indianapolis 3rd ward and his wife Mara Snyder will speak to us about their post-law school experiences shed light on how to hone our job placement skills, and give us a glimpse into work life. Both have a broad range of experiences ranging from work on Wall Street to federal and local government. Please come with questions to ask our guests so that this can be a valuable experience to all who come.
We invite all who can to attend because this meeting is the election for the officers during this year.
The first J. Reuben Clark Law Society meeting of the school year will be held in room 391 August 31, at noon. We will discuss how we as a group would like to run things for the coming year and begin the campaigns for officers, so come with ideas for activities and such. We will also finalize plans for the opening social coming up this Saturday.
